World Chocolate Day

Gina Bourne, Day Care Manager

We don’t really need a reason to enjoy chocolate, but on World Chocolate Day, it would be rude not to!

July 7th is celebrated by chocolate lovers all around the world and whether it’s Ecuadorian cacao nibs, French ganache, Belgian praline or good old British Cadbury’s, people all around the globe are celebrating their favourites today.

Everyone's favourite chocolate bar

Our celebration

Devon is no different and Mr Wonka is making a surprise visit to St Andrews House laden with goodies for our residents, with each persons’ favourite chocolate bar. We also have a few low sugar, lactose free and vegan options so that everyone can be involved regardless of dietary requirements.

There will also be a special screening of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the original and best version from the 70s) in the Day Lounge.

Why celebrate today?

Throughout the year at St Andrews House we like to celebrate important awareness days and some of the more quirky occasions such as this because it keeps our daily life varied and allows us to celebrate, reflect, observe and enjoy the many things that make up the cultural tapestry of the UK.

Celebrate with us

If you’re a chocolate lover and celebrating today, here’s a pretty tricky quiz you can take and if eating is more you thing, the classic chocolate game is always fun.

We’ll leave you with the winning Edinburgh Fringe Festival joke from 2013…

“I heard a rumour that Cadbury is bringing out an oriental chocolate bar. Could be a Chinese Wispa.”
